Be Present

traveling with preschoolers

Spoilers, I’m a photographer.

However, this vacation, I purposefully left my “big” camera at home.

That’s right.

I knew we would have magical moments to capture gorgeous once in a lifetime photos. My kids’ faces would light up in a way they never had before. These were all new experiences. We would never get to relive these moments.

That was exactly why I left my camera at home.

I wanted to be present. I wanted to be present with my husband. I wanted to be present with my kids. I wanted to fully experience all the sights, smells, sounds, and of course tastes. I do not want to live behind a screen. Nothing is as real as fully living in the moment.

We did not plan our vacation for the ‘gram. No, it is not true that you must share your whole life with social media. If you don’t share it with the entire known world on Instagram or Facebook, IT STILL HAPPENED. We planned our vacation to take a breather, to enjoy each others’ company, and to live fully. We do not live for the likes.
