Helping the Hurricane & wildfire VIctims

How You Can Make a Christmas Full of Joy & Wonder for Hurricane & Wildfire Victims

This fall, it seems as if tragedy after tragedy has overwhelmed our social media newsfeeds.

When I read the articles or watch the news stories, my heart hurts for these victims. Whether by hurricane or wildfire, the need to escape is the same. The fear is the same. I picture them fleeing their homes, grabbing a few clothes, toiletries, and necessities, but leaving behind a lifetime of memories.

Leaving behind the doorframe that not only tracked a little girl growing taller, but took a mother back to years of memories. Like a movie reel, she could picture her little girl twirling as a toddler, a young girl, a preteen, and a gorgeous teenager not as she marked her daughter’s height, but as the family invested in their loving home.
Leaving behind a kitchen table that not only held their food, but served as a home base that facilitated countless family discussions, provided a safe place to cry over broken dreams and hearts, leveled the playing field as mom sneakily refereed family game nights, and allowed for a family to slow down, love each other, and enjoy each other’s company over family dinners.

I can’t imagine the loss the young families felt as they drove down their streets, their homes fading from their rearview windows, unsure of what they would come home to. I can’t imagine the burden these families are experiencing as they try to recover, rebuild, and restore some sort of semblance of normal life in the aftermath of these hurricanes.

But I’ve been listening. I’ve also seen that so many of you long for a way to help. You want to get involved and make a difference. You want to serve. You just don’t know how.

I want to give you a way to help. Kimberly Danielle Portraits wants to offer a way for you to say:

Houston, we stand with you.

Florida, we are fighting for you.

Puerto Rico, we love you.

California, we are here for you.
