HOw to Have The perfect family Summer evening

The big dusty bluebonnet adorned fields, the even bigger Fort Worth star speckled skies, and the noisy cicadas paint a picture of an almost perfect summer night.

The breeze kissed my skin as the big summer sky turned a gorgeous orange and purple through the sunset. The cicadas called to each other and sang in the distant trees.

My sister-in-law exhaled a huge sigh of relief as she sat down on the blanket in the big open field. Dozens of other families surrounded us in lawn chairs or blankets awaiting the fireworks display. Toddlers and young children ran in between and through the seating obstacles giggling as moms and dads kept eyes on their kids.

We both indulged in the delicious chips and salsa that I always bring to family and friend gatherings and enjoyed a few moments of quiet.

No agendas.

Nowhere we had to be.

No running the kids to baseball, other summer sports, academic camps, friends' houses, pool parties, or getting ready for all that summer family fun.

Just being in the quiet.

And delicious chips and salsa. And cicadas. I really love their song.

She explained how busy they were that summer. She had all these plans for her boys:

  • To have fun with each other as a family.
  • To do some extra learning.
  • To encourage both of her boys to pursue their individual interests.
  • To slow down and to be fully present with each other.

But they were so busy that they hadn't really and truly gotten to "be" with each other as a family. All the running from one activity to the next had gotten in the way of really living and experiencing the summer as what it really could be.

Summer flies by so quick.

There is so much life to live in the summer.

What can make it even better?

Making lifelong memories with your children that will make you long for the long summer nights of 2017.

Maybe you are a mom whose kids have so many activities that your planner needs extra space to write in all the schedules. You are the mom that takes a month long nap once school gets back in session.

Maybe you are a mom that just really isn't sure what to do with your kids in the summer. You don't have big plans for the summer, and everyone is crawling up the living room walls in boredom and spending a little too much time in their pajamas. You are the mom that does a little happy dance on the first day back to school while the kids pout.

We all spend our summer days differently, but we love our families and the opportunities that summer offers to slow down and enjoy each other.

Introducing "Summer Nights & Water Balloon Fights" Sessions

So whether you are in the "I absolutely love every minute with my kids" or the "I can't wait for school to start" camp we all occasionally have one or two moments of frustration with our kids.

Let's blow off some steam (it'll be so hot soon!), slow down, and enjoy each other. Some of my favorite summer memories are throwing an ice cold water balloon and hitting my dad square in the chest. A water balloon fight is something that takes us back to when times were a little less complicated, a little more innocent, and what perfect summers are made of.

There is an innocence and feeling of yesteryear wrapped in a water balloon fight that no Netflix binge can replicate.

I want to give your family a chance to get a few good throws at each other and to have a bunch of laughs in the process. Don't worry. I'll fill all the balloons and do all the cleanup. You just come have fun.

We'll start out with a time for family portraits under the big Fort Worth sky and finish with an epic water balloon fight.

Who I am looking for:

Any families that want to laugh, enjoy each other, and maybe hit each other with a cold and wet balloon.
