With the ending of 2016, I started to pray, plan, and focus on my business goals for 2017. I realized, with the help of wise counsel (thanks to Karli and a senior photography association), that I wasn't focused on what my business was doing or even why it existed. I worked countless hours on why I wanted to own my business, why I wanted it to be photography, and why I specifically love to photograph tweens, teens, and high school seniors.
The company name, logo, and look of Coffee and a Camera Photography was my baby. I designed it all on my own (maybe I shouldn't be saying this!) and I felt connected to it. It represented me. It was all about me. I felt proud of what I had built. But something wasn't right.
As I spent time praying about my company, listening to others much wiser than me, and thinking about how I could leverage my company to make a difference in others' lives, I realized that things had to change. I had to make my company more outward focused. That was the unsettled feeling I got when I worked on my business. I want to inspire girls to live up to their true potential. I want them to see who they are, who they can become, and how beautiful they are inside and out. Every single client I have had, has had an interesting story to tell. They've experienced life in such a different way than I have. I know that everyone that I have photographed can and will make a big impact on the world if they just continue to be true to God, to themselves, and to work hard.
Each and every aspect of my new look has a reason. I'd love to explain it!
New name
Kimberly Danielle Portraits. I want to build a company that is relational and feels like a family. By changing the name from Coffee and a Camera Photography to Kimberly Danielle Portraits, you know who you are calling, texting, and emailing. I don't want to ever grow to the point that I can't build a relationship and friendship with my clients. I want you to feel special when you work with me- because I truly believe that you are!
Purples & Golds
Oh, the colors of royalty. You deserve a day to be treated with the upmost class and style. Most of my clients pour themselves out to serve their communities, the cities, and the nations. You know how to work like a boss. I mean, c'mon. You are busy changing the world. Even world changers enjoy being girly and the softer things of life, too. I want you to feel basked in luxury and to get a special day to celebrate you and the amazing person that you will become.
Compass
I believe that as true disciples of Jesus, we were created for so much more than just chasing the American Dream. Nothing is wrong with it. I'm just saying that there is so much more to an abundant life than money, cars, houses, 2.5 kids with a picket fence. I have a passion and a fire in my heart to live a big and adventurous life full of family, excitement, travel, new cultures, and new experiences. I long for places I've never been. And I never feel more alive than when I am living those big adventures with my closest family and friends. I truly believe God put that desire in my spirit as an extension of Himself. When we walk closely with God and let Him direct our paths, I truly believe with every fiber of my being that we come more alive and truly live abundantly full lives.
I specialize in high school seniors and teens. These are major pivotal and transitional years. It is so easy to get distracted, off track, or to just feel like you have no sense of direction.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Life can get rough sometimes. Can I get an "Amen?" The only thing that has kept me from laying down and giving up on those big dreams has been trusting in God, who He is, and trusting that He will direct my life journey. Often, God's leading is like a compass. He'll give us a direction but won't lay out all the plans. It will just be a general direction rather than a full map. I believe this with all my heart.
As you graduate, move out, and transition to the next adventure of life, my prayer is that you will remember who you are, who you were raised to be, and who you could become. That compass that your parents fine tuned every day of your childhood will guide you to live big dreams and be who you were created to be.
Globes
You have adventure in your heart and a fire for life that fuels your desire to live for more than just the American Dream. You dream of places you've never been. You are smart, creative, adventurous, and passionate. You push the boundaries in yourself and stand up for those that need a voice. You've experienced difficulty and fought to come out stronger through it. What an amazing story you have to tell. You truly believe that you can change the world. Now let's tell your story.
You'll see a flat map and hints of globes throughout social media. If you've known me for long, you know that I get antsy if I stay anyplace for too long. I love to travel, but even more, I see the diversity of our world as something so beautiful.
When seeing a globe, I imagine going on an exciting journey. That's exactly what you as high school juniors and seniors are doing. You are on an exciting journey, and I want to help tell your story. Whether we stay in Fort Worth or travel across the globe for your session (please, oh please, let's go somewhere!), I want to accurately convey your life adventure.
Hopefully you'll feel inspired to find a big adventure that will change your life.
