Traveling with Preschoolers: What We Wish We Knew Before

Traveling across Texas and the country with preschoolers is no joke. After a few meltdowns (and a few from the kiddos, too 😂), we quickly discovered the learning curve and that we had to get up to speed quickly - for everyone's sanity and health.

When traveling without kids, we could hop in the car at a moment's notice, drive across the state, speak at a location, and drive back all in one day... then go to work the next day. It completely changed with kids.

Everything slows way down.

More potty breaks.

Longer to eat lunch.

Even more potty breaks.

Slow walks on the beach... er... back to the car from lunch and car breaks.

We wish we would have realized just how much we needed to embrace the slowing down. There is joy in the journey. Once we slowed down to realize that half of the fun is the journey- to add more travel time, down time, and play- our travel related stress greatly reduced.

It hasn't fixed everything, but it has really helped! If you plan to travel with littles this summer, plan for the journey.

xoxo,

Kimberly
