To find out what to wear for your family portraits, follow the steps below. If you have any questions, feel free to email me!
Step 1: Pick mom's outfit (or the pickiest member of the family)
Who is the hardest person to dress and has the most opinions on what they wear? Often, this person is mom or a teen daughter. Start with that person. Pick that person's outfit and just do the clothes.
Step 2: Pick a color palette based on first outfit
The Hensley family picked out their high school senior's outfit first and then picked a color palette based on her wardrobe.
Step 3: Add in the final outfits
Following your color palette, add in your final outfits. Do be careful in adding in too many prints and patterns. You don't want to be matchy-matchy, but do try to coordinate. Don't put everyone in the same black shirt with khaki shorts, rather play up the specific color palette.
I love how Ada's white skirt pulls the white from her mom's top and the white in her dad's button-up. They coordinate and look like they belong to each other.
Step 4: Pull it all together
Add accessories. The accessories that you pick can be the cherry on top and really pull outfits together across different people.
